In a significant development for global entrepreneurial collaboration, Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Sonowal has been elected as the President of the BRICS Entrepreneurs Alliance (BEA) Global Forum for the term 2026–27. This marks a major milestone for India’s growing leadership role within the BRICS+ economic ecosystem.

Dr. Sonowal currently serves as the CEO and Executive Director of BEA India. His responsibility of steering the global vision and strategic direction of the Alliance will be immensely beneficial. His leadership comes at a pivotal moment, as BEA India prepares to host the BEA Global Summit in November 2026. The summit is expected to attract a diverse and influential international audience, opening new pathways for global business engagement and partnerships.

This elevation underscores India’s increasing prominence as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly in advancing opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Under Dr. Sonowal’s leadership, BEA aims to create a dynamic platform where Indian entrepreneurs can showcase their capabilities to BRICS+ nations, while also enabling access to new products, services, and technologies from across member countries.

The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen cross-border trade by fostering an ecosystem built on mutual trust, respect, and long-term cooperation. By encouraging transparent business practices and shared economic values, BEA seeks to enhance sustainable trade relationships that benefit all participating nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Sonowal stated: “This is a defining moment for entrepreneurship in India. I am deeply honored to take on this responsibility at a time when Indian enterprises, especially MSMEs, are poised to play a transformative role in the global economy. My commitment is to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to create meaningful opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs, while strengthening partnerships across BRICS+ nations through trust, innovation, and shared prosperity.”

Mr. Boris Tarasov, Secretary General of BEA Global, remarked: “India today stands at the forefront of shaping a more inclusive and balanced global trade framework. With its entrepreneurial energy and economic vision, India has the potential to guide not only trade expansion but also goodwill and cooperation among BRICS+ nations. Dr. Sonowal’s leadership will be instrumental in realizing this vision.”

Mr. Thomas Lotha, Founder Vice President of BEA India, added:
“This is truly a momentous occasion for Indian entrepreneurship. For the first time, lakhs of Indian entrepreneurs will have a structured and credible platform to engage with global markets. We are committed to ensuring that this initiative translates into tangible business opportunities beyond national borders, contributing meaningfully to India’s economic growth and GDP expansion.”

Mr. Evgeny Skomorovsky, President of BEA Russia, emphasized: “The economic partnership between India and Russia has always been rooted in trust and mutual respect. This new phase of collaboration under the BEA framework will further deepen trade ties, enabling both nations to unlock new opportunities and drive shared prosperity through strategic cooperation.”

Fernando Soares, President of BEA Brazil, expressed: "In my capacity as BEA President I convey strong support to and look forward to collaborating closely with global counterparts under India’s leadership."
